50 Cent’s G-Unit Films & Television Louisiana Gets Green Light from Shreveport City Council

The Shreveport City Council has officially approved a lease agreement allowing 50 Cent’s G-Unit Films & Television Louisiana LLC to operate a sports and entertainment venue.

On Tuesday, the council unanimously passed the ordinance, securing the partnership between Stageworks Louisiana and G-Unit.

“I just want to say — in the short period of time, I’ve come to like the people of Shreveport in a different way. It feels like home for me, and eventually, it’ll be home because I have some work to do,” 50 Cent said. “I remember [Councilman] Alan [Jackson], the first time I spoke to him after Humor & Harmony, the first thing he said was, ‘Well, what’s next?’ and I was like, ‘I think I need to talk to Tourism. I think I need to talk to all of these other people to build it out.’”

50 Cent also assured the council that he is committed to delivering results for the city. “I’m excited about building those things, and I want to say openly to [Councilman] Jim [Taliaferro] that — I haven’t had to talk to you directly — I promise you, I’ll over deliver with Shreveport,” he said. “Like you see, it was filled to capacity when we were here for Humor & Harmony. I have programs and plans for the facilities, so you’ll be able to look at the things that are happening throughout the year, and it’ll be actively used in a different way.”

G-Unit plans to transform a section of the building into a state-of-the-art venue that will host a range of events, including amateur and professional basketball and volleyball leagues, boxing and MMA matches, conventions, auto shows, concerts, and business meetings.

The lease agreement spans 30 years, with an option for a 15-year renewal. G-Unit will take full responsibility for maintenance and operational costs while paying $200 per month in rent.

Shreveport seems confident that 50 Cent will bring his vision to life for the community.
