Congresswoman Claudia Tenney Introduces Bill to Make Trump’s Birthday a Federal Holiday

Congresswoman Claudia Tenney (R-NY) has introduced new legislation aiming to make June 14 a federal holiday in honor of Trump. The bill, titled the Trump’s Birthday and Flag Day Holiday Establishment Act, would officially designate June 14 as “Trump’s Birthday and Flag Day” to commemorate both the former president’s contributions and the historical significance of Flag Day.

June 14 holds a dual significance in American history—it marks both Flag Day, which celebrates the adoption of the U.S. flag in 1777, and Trump’s birthday, as he was born on June 14, 1946. Tenney’s proposal seeks to permanently enshrine this date as a national holiday, recognizing what she calls Trump’s “pivotal role” in shaping modern America.

“No modern president has been more consequential for our country than Donald J. Trump,” Tenney stated. “As both our 45th and 47th president, he has led America through historic moments, from brokering the Abraham Accords to delivering the largest tax relief package in history. Just as George Washington’s birthday is a federal holiday, it’s time we recognize President Trump’s contributions.”

The bill also aims to strengthen national recognition of the American flag and its significance as the country prepares for its 250th anniversary in 2026. Tenney argues that by establishing Trump’s Birthday and Flag Day, the nation can simultaneously celebrate patriotism and the impact of the former president.

Do you think Trump’s birthday should be recognized as a federal holiday?
