Beyoncé’s mother Tina Knowles has revealed she was diagnosed with breast cancer.

Tina, 71, opened up about her private cancer battle to People and has also reportedly has spoken about her diagnosis in her new memoir, Matriarch.

She revealed she was diagnosed with stage 1 breast cancer in July.

Tina, according to the publication, had the tumour removed via surgery and is now cancer-free.

“I struggled with whether I would share that journey [in her memoir] because I’m very private,” she told People.

“But I decided to share it because I think it’s a lot of lessons in it for other women.”

Tina told CBS Mornings’ Gayle King that she was ”in disbelief” about her diagnosis at first, CBS News reported.

“I’ve always tried to take care of myself. I just … was in disbelief,” she said.

Legends of the music world, then and now

She said that before her surgery she felt strong and supported by her loved ones.

“And I went in there feeling just like God has got me,” Tina said.

Tina has always supported Beyoncé throughout her career and previously designed the costumes for ’90s band Destiny’s Child.

More recently, the singer and her mother started their own haircare brand called Cécred.
