Lil Uzi Vert Sued for NYC Assault After Alleged Beatdown Over Photo
According to AllHipHop, a man by the name of Vaughn Trotman is suing Lil Uzi Vert over a violent street incident in Manhattan that allegedly left him injured and fearing for his life.
The civil suit, filed in New York, centers on an April 17, 2024 altercation outside Broadway and 27th Street. Trotman says he was simply taking a photo of Lil Uzi’s car when the rapper allegedly responded with hostility.
According to the lawsuit, Lil Uzi yelled a racial slur and pointed Trotman out by shouting, “get that man in the blue,” referring to his jacket.
“[Lil Uzi] then emerged from his vehicle and descended upon [Vaughn] as well while [Vaughn] was being choked, kicked, and punched,” Trotman’s attorney Jack Berry, Esq. said.
The complaint alleges the rapper didn’t just watch but joined in, verbally assaulting Trotman while his security team beat him. The attack, Trotman claims, caused injuries to his neck, back, and right shoulder, requiring surgery and forcing him out of work. He also cites severe emotional distress.
After the beatdown, Uzi allegedly acknowledged breaking Trotman’s phone and tossed out money.
“[Lil Uzi] unrolled his window, acknowledged that he broke [Vaughn’s] phone, and then, to add insult to literal injury, threw a handful of hundred-dollar bills into the crowd while calling [Vaughn] an expletive. [Lil Uzi] drove away from the scene of the attack,” said Berry.
The lawsuit names Uzi (legal name Symere Woods), his company Uzivert LLC, and multiple unnamed entourage members. Allegations include assault, battery, and negligence.
Trotman’s lawyers say he now lives in constant fear. Lil Uzi Vert has not responded publicly.
