Carl Dean: Dolly Parton’s late husband’s last will revealed in US court
Dolly Parton’s late husband Carl Dean’s will has been released, laying out what the country star would receive and how their assets would be split if Parton had passed before him.
Parton filed court documents following Dean’s death on March 3, saying he had executed a will on January 16, 2013 and hadn’t amended it, US Weekly reports.
The documents say she is his widow, and they have no children together.
The Carl Thomas Dean Trust is the sole beneficiary of his estate, of which Parton is the trustee.
Dean did not own any property in Tennessee, but did own personal property and cash, the filing said.
The country singer also said her husband did not own or have any control over an ongoing business that would be part of his estate.
She also asked to be appointed the executor of Dean’s estate.

The will states he has five nieces and nephews, while Parton has 14 nieces and nephews.
If Parton cannot execute his will for whatever reason, he asked for his niece to be appointed.
He also said he would leave a handwritten note outlining who got his personal items, but if the list couldn’t be found, Parton could distribute his belongings.
The will reads that Parton will be awarded all of his right, title, and interest in any personal items relating to her music and entertainment career, including, without limitation, costumes, jewellery, pictures, equipment and musical instruments.
If Parton passed away before Dean, the will states the items would be distributed equally through his trust to her nieces and nephews.
Parton will also receive all furniture, art, cars and other items.

Dolly Parton’s husband Carl Thomas Dean passed away on March 2, aged 82.
Dean and Parton had been married since 1966, but he stayed relatively out of the spotlight despite Parton’s global fame.
The Jolene singer shared the news of Dean’s death via a statement on Instagram, saying: “Carl and I spent many wonderful years together. Words can’t do justice to the love we shared for over 60 years. Thank you for your prayers and sympathy.”
