Khloé Kardashian Slammed Online for Calling LA Mayor Karen Bass a “Joke”

Khloé Kardashian has expressed her frustration with Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass over the region’s wildfire crisis.

After L.A. Fire Chief Kristin Crowley highlighted the impact of budget cuts on firefighting efforts, Kardashian took to Instagram to back Crowley and call out Bass.

“I stand by YOU Chief Crowley!!!!” Kardashian wrote. “You spoke the truth and you had tears in your eyes because I can tell you didn’t even want to say that but it was THE TRUTH!!!!” She further criticized Bass, calling her a “joke!!!!”

While Bass denied that budget cuts had hindered firefighting capabilities, Crowley firmly disagreed, telling Fox LA, “My message is the fire department needs to be properly funded. It’s not.”

The fires have caused at least 11 deaths, displaced over 100,000 people, and destroyed around 12,000 structures, according to the Associated Press.

The Kardashians have generally supported Democratic politicians, notably backing Hillary Clinton in the 2016 election. However, ahead of the 2024 election, the family has remained largely silent on political matters, avoiding support for either Donald Trump or Kamala Harris. 

While Kardashian isn’t alone in criticizing the state’s leadership, many online slammed the reality star for calling out Bass. Some believed she was spreading right-wing rhetoric in her discussions of Bass.
