Lily Allen new album West End Girl hints at cheating and marriage breakdown with ex-husband David Harbour

Just months after her split from actor David Harbour, pop star Lily Allen has released a revealing album that hints at cheating.

It is believed that the 14-track album titled West End Girl details the breakdown of her marriage to the Stranger Things star and heavily features themes of infidelity with lyrics like: “Girls in your bed” and “Did you kiss her on the lips?”

While Allen has not explicitly said the lyrics are about her ex, she has claimed that the album is semi-autobiographical and many fans are convinced that the album is about Harbour and the circumstances that led to their split.

The album begins with the song West End Girl in which Allen sings with excitement about moving to New York with her two daughters and setting up home in a “nice little rental near a sweet little school” before she lands a role on the West End in London.

During their marriage, Allen lived in New York with her husband and her two daughters Ethel and Marnie from her previous relationship. Allen also landed a role in the 2021 West End show 2:22 A Ghost Story.

Allen and Harbour were married for four years before their reported split.

Since the split is has been confirmed that Allen returned to London with her daughters.

The tone of the song shifted throughout the single and ended with a one-minute emotional phone call with Lily saying: “Well it doesn’t make me feel great … If that’s what you need to do then … I guess. I mean, it makes me really sad but … I want you to be happy.”

Themes of infedelity feature on the second and third track.

On the second track, titled Ruminating, Allen sings: “Ruminating, ruminating, I’ve been up all night. Did you kiss her on the lips, and look into her eyes? Did you have fun?”

“Now that it’s done, baby, won’t you tell me I’m still your number one? ‘Cause you’re still my number one,” the lyrics continue.

On the third track, titled Sleepwalking, Allen sings: “Been no romance since we wed. ‘Why aren’t we f—ing baby?’ Yeah, that’s what you said. But you let me think it was me in my head, and nothing to do with them girls in your bed.”

In the track Madeline, which tells the story of a woman talking to someone her partner slept with, Allen sings: “I know none of this is your fault, messaging you feels kind of assaultive/ Saw your text, that’s how I found out, tell me the truth and his motives.”

“How long has it been going on? Is it just sex or is there emotion?/ He told me it would stay in hotel rooms, never be out in the open/ Why would I trust anything that comes out of his mouth?,” the lyrics continue.

It is understood that the album was written and recorded in just 10 days.

In interviews the musician has stressed that the album is not entirely based on truth.

“There are things that are on the record that I experienced within my marriage, but that’s not to say that it’s all gospel,” she told British Vogue of the new album last week.

“It is inspired by what went on in the relationship.”

”I’ve tried to document my life in a new city and the events that led me to where I am in my life now,” she said in a press release statement for the album.

“At the same time, I’ve used shared experiences as the basis for songs which try to delve into why we humans behave as we do, so the record is a mixture of fact and fiction.”

Allen and Harbour were first linked in 2019 and married in a Las Vegas ceremony in September 2020.

Multiple outlets confirmed that the pair had split early this year.

Around the same time, Allen explained that she had spent some time at a treatment centre.

“I did a lot of group therapy and some individual therapy and I just, I needed some time and space away from everything,” she said on her BBC podcast, Miss Me?
