The outspoken sports commentator opened up about feeling like a fool for supporting Kamala Harris.

Smith’s criticism stemmed from Harris’ lack of success during the 2020 Democratic primary. Harris dropped out before the Iowa caucus and never secured a single primary vote. Fast forward to 2024, Harris became the Democratic nominee without a primary process.

“Kamala Harris, who didn’t resonate during the primaries in 2020, couldn’t even get to Iowa, suddenly is the Democratic nominee,” Smith said. “Then you roll up to the convention in Chicago, and everybody is like, ‘She’s a rockstar!’ So it’s like, ‘How’d that happen?’”

Smith argued that voters were left without a real choice. “If you had a primary, the likelihood is she would not have been the Democratic nominee,” he stated.

Known for being a sharp critic of his own party, Smith called out what he sees as a lack of transparency in the nomination process. “We fell for the okiedoke,” he admitted.

Whether or not his views resonate with voters, Smith made it clear he’s not afraid to call it as he sees it.
