Donald Trump Launches Task Force and Commission to “Protect” Christianity in America
Donald Trump wants to protect Christianity within America, so he claims.
On Thursday, Trump announced shocking plans to create a task force and a presidential commission aimed at shielding Christians from religious discrimination. Speaking at the National Prayer Breakfast in Washington, he outlined multiple measures to counter what he described as attacks on religious liberty.
“While I’m in the White House, we will protect Christians in our schools, in our military, in our government, in our workplaces, hospitals, and in our public squares,” he declared. “And we will bring our country back together as one nation under God.”
Trump vowed to establish a presidential commission on religious liberty that “will work tirelessly to uphold this most fundamental right.” He also pledged an executive order appointing Attorney General Pam Bondi to lead a task force to “eradicate anti-Christian bias” and stop “all forms of anti-Christian targeting and discrimination within the federal government.”
Additionally, he announced the creation of a White House Faith Office, to be led by the Rev. Paula White, his longtime religious adviser.
Trump has repeatedly accused his political opponents of persecuting Christians. Republicans criticized the Biden Justice Department for prosecuting anti-abortion activists blocking clinic entrances, whom Trump later pardoned.
In 2023, GOP lawmakers condemned an FBI memo linking white nationalist groups to “Radical-Traditionalist Catholics.” Then-FBI Director Christopher Wray ordered its removal, citing policy violations.
Meanwhile, the Biden administration launched efforts addressing rising antisemitism and Islamophobia.
