RIHANNA VOICES SMURFETTE AND TEASES NEW MUSIC IN ‘SMURFS’ TRAILER
The trailer for the upcoming new Smurfs adventure just dropped today and Rihanna fans are extremely excited.
The 36-year-old is not only voicing one of the most endearing Smurfs in the village, Smurfette, she is also providing new music for the upcoming film.
Back in April of 2023, the Fenty Beauty founder spoke about working on the film.
“I get to show up in my PJs in my third trimester,” Rihanna said per the Hollywood Reporter at CinemaCon. “I hope this gives me cool points with my kids one day.”
The upcoming Paramount Pictures film is directed by Chris Miller and co-director Matt Landon. In addition to voicing one of the main characters of the movie and providing original music, Rihanna will also serve as a producer on the project in addition with Ryan Harris, Laurence “Jay” Brown and Tyran “Ty-Ty” Smith.
Fans were treated to a sneak peek of the action in the newly released trailer, which was introduced by none other than Rihanna herself. In the preview, Smurfette’s peaceful life in Smurf Village is suddenly upended when she and the other Smurfs are transported to Paris!
The adventure truly begins when Papa Smurf is kidnapped by the villainous wizards Razamel and Gargamel. Smurfette must then lead the Smurfs on an epic journey into the real world to rescue him. Along the way, they’ll meet new allies and discover their true destinies.
Alongside Rihanna, the Smurfs cast is stacked with an impressive list of actors, including Nick Offerman, Nick Kroll, James Corden, Octavia Spencer, Daniel Levy, Amy Sedaris, and more. The film also features voices from Kurt Russell and John Goodman.
Smurfs movie is in theaters July 18th.
