The Atlanta rap star has teamed up with Whirlpool for a one-of-a-kind collaboration that puts the group’s 2001 anthem inside a washing machine. The limited-edition Whirlpool Front Load Washer plays “So Fresh, So Clean” at the end of every cycle and features a “Certified Fresh and Clean” badge with Big Boi’s signature. Only five of these custom machines are being given away through a sweepstakes kicked off on August 19th, which runs through September 23rd.
Fans who want a chance to win must follow WhirlpoolUSA on Instagram, find the sweepstakes post, like it, and comment #whirlpoolsofresh. Tagging a friend earns an extra entry, and winners will be notified via DM.
In an interview with The Blast, Big Boi explained that the idea came directly from Whirlpool.
“They called up and was like, you know, the kings of ‘so fresh, so clean’ and the washing machine kings need to get together,” he said.
“We are on theme, we are on code, we got the same mission to be the cleanest that we can be and the freshest we can be, and they was like, we want to put your song on the new Whirlpool washing machine,” he continued. “I thought it was just a chime, but they have the original track playing at the end of the wash cycle, so I was like, oh man, that’s dope, I gotta do it.”
While Big Boi is enthusiastic about the collab, it’s unclear how Andre 3000 feels about the custom washing machines rocking their classic. He keeps a low profile, playing his flute across the country, as Big Boi continues to hold down the group name in Atlanta. Nevertheless, the pair keeps the Outkast name alive in their own, unique ways.
