Bridgerton star tears up as she claims she was ‘attacked’ in London for the second time this year

A Bridgerton star has tearfully explained that she was attacked in the streets of London for the second time this year.

Genevieve Chenneour, who plays Clara Livingstone in the popular series, shared a video to her TikTok claiming that she was hit by a man in London’s Oxford Circus, five minutes before she was due to attend a “big audition”.

“I was walking around the corner in Oxford Circus and this guy just looks at me and like targets me and f—ing hits me and I’m like against the wall,” she explained while she sniffled back tears.

“I was literally right about to arrive for my audition so I’ve had to come in and I’m trying to gather myself but I’m so shaken,” she continued.

The alleged incident comes just months after she confronted a thief who brazenly tried to steal her phone in a London cafe.

The moment was captured on CCTV showing Chenneour sitting with her phone on a bench next to her.

When she wasn’t looking, the thief came up behind her and attempted to discreetly take her phone.

But the actress caught on and confronted the man before snatching her phone back out of his hand.

As she did, her friend grabbed the thief and pushed him to the floor as Channeour began to strike the attempted thief on the back with the phone.

The offender was revealed to be an 18-year-old who later appeared in Westminster Magistrates’ Court on May 29 and pleaded guilty to theft and assaulting another customer.

The two incidents have left Chenneour shaken and concerned about the safety of London.

“Obviously I had that phone attack happen to me and it’s so nerve-wracking for me being out in Central London now,” the actress continued in her video.

“I just got my confidence back up and was looking at moving back.”

As she tried to regulate her emotions before her audition, she revealed she could still “feel where he hit [her]”.

“It was a full grown man, I’m so shaken,” she added.

In the caption of her video, Channeour wrote: “London isn’t safe any more! What is happening?”

Later in a post to her Instagram stories, Chenneour reflected on the people who commented that she was lying about the experience as well as the women who had reached out to her revealing similar experiences.

”Sharing my story has made me realise how hard it is to talk out about this which it shouldn’t be and I’m really keen to do more to change things for women because we shouldn’t be living in this fear and we’re not going to live in this fear anymore,” she said.

“I really think there’s a big shift happening and I think sticking together, standing together, speaking our voice is a big step forward.”
