The Real Housewives of New York City (RHONY) finale left fans talking, with intense moments and some emotional reveals. Following the finale, Brynn Whitfield is speaking out and doesn’t understand why she is not being met with grace. On Ubah’s Comment: “It’s hurtful as a woman…”

When the cast went to Puerto Rico, tensions reached a boiling point after Ubah suggested Brynn had slept her way onto the show. In the interview, Brynn shared why that comment was so deeply hurtful:

“I have worked so hard my entire life. I put myself through college, I never had mommy or daddy to give me a job or even help me write a resume, I lived on friends’ couches, I cried in the bathrooms of PR agencies, I learned how to negotiate and work my way up, and I worked my ass off. I feel like it’s hurtful as a woman to have my whole career attempted to be diminished and wrongfully equated to something having to do with sex. That’s just crazy to me and offensive. As a woman, I think we can do better than that. If you have a problem with someone, that’s fine, but suggesting something that’s pretty disgusting doesn’t settle well with me. I used my brain, I didn’t have to do anything else. Women don’t have to lie, cheat, steal, or fuck in order to get to the top.”

A Conversation with Ubah: “Not everyone remembers everything…”

The emotional weight didn’t stop there. Later in the trip, Brynn Whitfield shared an intimate and painful experience—her past sexual assault—and let the housewives know that Ubah was aware of this.

“It’s not right to assume that everyone remembers everything that you say all the time and then hold them accountable for that. I know for a fact that I said it, but when someone’s screaming into the phone, the other person might not necessarily hear them. At that point, she was problem-solving and being a great friend, saying, ‘OK, do you need me to get a car to come and get you?’ as I’m rambling on. Just because you say things doesn’t necessarily mean people hear them.”

Why Brynn Whitfield Wasn’t Ready for Ubah’s Apology

The situation only intensified when Ubah attempted to apologize, but Brynn wasn’t ready to accept it. Reflecting on why she needed time to process, Brynn Whitfield said:

“I get how, as a viewer, it makes sense that you want to get to closure but in real life, I need time to process if I’m truly offended or hurt. I don’t want to talk about it at that time. I need to cool off and take three days or so and then I’m ready to talk, because I have a clear mind, and I’ll be receptive to what you’re saying. If I get that hurt, I’ll just go into defense mode, and my walls go up immediately.”

Responding to Accusations of Manipulation: “It’s disgusting…”

The accusations that Brynn Whitfield had manipulated the other women came as a shock to her. The RHONY finale portrayed the fallout from the Puerto Rico trip, and Brynn expressed just how hurt she was by the claims:

“That was shocking. You’re telling me that in the three minutes from when I’m called horrible names [by Ubah] and I’m obviously upset that I somehow devised a plan? It’s disgusting that I’m talking about two things that I would hope that no woman or person would have to experience—suicide and sexual assault—and everyone’s like, ‘Brynn, we feel taken advantage of.’”

Leaving Puerto Rico: “This has gone too far”

In the aftermath of the Puerto Rico incident, Brynn Whitfield made the decision to leave early. Explaining how she felt during the situation, she described the moment when she requested to leave as being beyond what she could handle:

“I texted a producer and I was like, ‘I want to leave, put me on the next flight. I’m out. This feels like the Jerry Springer show. This has gone too far.’ This is my life, and these are serious, traumatic subjects that are turning into she said-she said fodder. I don’t understand why I’m not being met with grace.”

Throughout the season, Brynn Whitfield’s personal struggles have been laid bare, from her painful past to her battles with the other women in the group. But things took a more complicated turn during a heated argument in Puerto Rico, when Ubah Hassan claimed that Brynn “may have” slept with an executive to secure her place on RHONY. That comment sparked a deep emotional reaction from Brynn, especially since she had confided in Hassan about her past sexual assault.

At first, the other women seemed to rally behind Brynn. She expressed just how hurt she was by the accusation, and many appeared to empathize with her pain. However, things shifted when word of her confession reached Ubah. Jessel Taank recounted how Ubah was visibly blindsided upon hearing that Brynn had shared such an intimate detail with the others:

“I was like, ‘Brynn shared that she was assaulted and that you know…’ and I didn’t get much further than that because you can just see on [Hassan’s] face that she was completely blindsided,” Jessel explained.

Suddenly, doubts began to surface. Ubah, who had no recollection of the conversation, asked Brynn to explain herself, urging her to clarify when and where she had shared the traumatic experience. The situation quickly escalated, with Ubah saying:

“I just want Brynn to tell me when she told me that, so I can remember before I deny.”

For many, it was hard to reconcile Brynn’s story with Ubah’s confusion. As the tension mounted, Racquel Chevremont put it bluntly:

“Then [Hassan] proceeds to tell us, ‘May Allah, strike me down and kill my firstborn if I did this,’” Racquel recalled. “No one would ever say something like that if they weren’t telling the truth.”

This moment left many viewers questioning Brynn’s version of events. Had she fabricated parts of her story to make herself appear more victimized, or was this simply a misunderstanding? Either way, the rupture in trust between Brynn and the rest of the group became undeniable.
