DJ Unk death: Walk It Out rapper dies aged 43
Legendary rapper DJ Unk has died aged 43, his family has confirmed.
His wife, Sherkita Long-Platt, revealed in a Facebook post published yesterday, “I just lost my husband and my kids just lost their father.

“Our life will never be the same. I LOVE YOU ANTHONY FOREVER,” she added, referring to his real name Anthony Leonard Platt.
She requested that others “please respect me and my family” during this difficult time.
No cause of death was shared for the musician.

The rapper is known for his 2000 hit Walk It Out and his follow up song 2 Step, released in 2006, among other songs.
He was mourned by those close to him, including his record label Big Oomp Records, founded by fellow Korey “Big Oomp” Robinson.
“It is with a heavy heart and profound sadness that we announce the passing of a true ATL legend, Anthony Platt better known as ‘DJ Unk’,” the organisation wrote in an Instagram post.
“DJ Unk was not just a legendary DJ, rapper, and producer, but a true cornerstone of our label and the imprint that he left globally will be cherished forever.
“Hit songs such as Walk It Out and 2 Step have left an indelible mark on the industry, and his legacy will continue to inspire artists, DJs, and fans alike for years to come. His energy, creativity, and commitment to the craft will never be forgotten.”
Fans also paid tribute to the DJ, producer, and rapper.

Journalist Torraine Walker shared on X, formerly Twitter, “Shout out to DJ Unk, who passed away today at 43. Dude may have been one of, if not the first, ATL artist to have a local indie nightclub hit take off and go mainstream platinum in the early blogging/social media era.”
Another added, “Bro I’m so f–king upset about DJ Unk. Walk it out and 2step are CLASSICS!!!!!!!!! What a gem we’ve lost !!!”
The rapper stepped back after reportedly suffering a heart attack in 2009.
In 2010 he said in an interview with XXL, ”I had some medical issues going on from not eating the right food and that just come from when I stopped taking care of myself,”
“I got to get healthy not just for my sake, but also for my kids and for my wife.”
