‘I ALWAYS WANT MY GIRLS TO FEEL VALUED’

Ciara and her kids star on the cover of the new Kindred by Parents digital issue, The Affirmation Issue, celebrating Women’s History Month.
Inside the publication, the 39-year-old singer opens up about motherhood, the values she’s instilling in her four children, and how she’s teaching her daughters the importance of knowing their worth and standing firm in their beliefs.

“I need to remind my girls to know when you are in the full essence of your honey and your sweetness, but also being firm and clear, you can make a lot happen in that space,” says Ciara.
She’s also teaching them the importance of setting boundaries and making their voices heard.
“I always want my girls to feel valued, know that they can create their own self-worth, they’re in control of themselves and where they can in life. I want my girls to know that they’re not limited by their gender or the color of their skin,” she says.

Ciara shares her four children—Future Zahir, 10, Sienna Princess, 7, Win Harrison, 4, and Amora Princess, 1—with her husband, NFL star Russell Wilson. She credits her own upbringing for shaping the woman she is today.
As a child, she describes herself as “headstrong”—a quality she now recognizes in Sienna.
“I always go back to that spirit,” she says. “It’s funny because my daughter, Sienna, reminds me of me. She is a mini-lawyer. This girl will convince you to do anything if you let her.”

With four little ones keeping her busy, Ciara isn’t ruling out the possibility of baby number five. For now, she’s soaking up all the love in her home.
“I’m so grateful for the love that’s in my household, how my husband loves me and how he loves all of our children, and especially how he loves our girls. I’m a daddy’s girl, so my dad’s love was incredibly valuable for me..”
