Kevin McCall Says R&B Icons Like Patti LaBelle and Alicia Keys Can’t Sing
Kevin McCall just gave the internet one of its most unexpected moments, and not in a good way. While sitting down for an episode of the “Back on Figg” podcast, the R&B singer didn’t just air out his financial problems; he took direct aim at some of the most beloved vocalists in music history.

“I don’t think Patti [LaBelle] can sing,” McCall said casually, before adding Mary J. Blige, Alicia Keys, Keyshia Cole, and Keith Sweat to his “they can’t sing” list. He even went as far as calling Alicia Keys “tone and pitch deaf.”
Despite throwing major shade, McCall claimed he’s still a fan of their work, a comment that left both the podcast hosts and viewers scratching their heads.
As social media caught fire with reactions, McCall’s interview got even more emotional. He revealed he’s currently broke and pulled out his EBT card, saying he’s struggling because he’s no longer getting paid for his songwriting contributions, including Chris Brown’s hit “Deuces.” He claimed Breezy owes him $25,000.
Chris Brown seemed to clap back subtly on Instagram, writing, “You can’t walk across a burnt bridge… and you know what’s funnier than a troll? A broke one.”
As for the R&B legends he called out, they have not publicly responded.
