KIM KARDASHIAN SAYS SHE NEEDS “A LITTLE BIT OF GRACE” WHILE RAISING PRETEEN NORTH WEST
Kim Kardashian says being a mom to a preteen isn’t easy.
The reality star opened up about life with her 12-year-old daughter North West on Alex Cooper’s Call Her Daddy podcast, sharing what it’s like to raise a tween in the spotlight.
“I think like, any mom of a teenager or a preteen, unless you’ve been here, like, please ― we just need a little bit of grace,” the SKIMS founder said in the episode released Wednesday.
Her comments follow recent headlines about North’s fashion choices after she was spotted wearing a corseted top and showing off a dermal piercing on her finger.
“It’s interesting because all the kids are like wearing the same things, but then my daughter tries to wear it, and then I’m like, ‘OK, we’re never wearing that again,’” Kardashian said. “Unfortunately, we made that mistake in front of the whole world.”
Kim said North typically prefers a tomboy look but recently wanted to try something her friends were wearing. “[She] went to the same place they went to, and they all got these outfits,” she explained. “Then she wears them, and it’s just like, ‘OK, wait, maybe you can’t wear that,’ you know? And so as a mom, you’re kind of learning at the same time.”
Still, the mom of four praised her daughter for being kind and well-grounded. “My baby’s such a good girl and such a sweet girl,” she said.
“I just think anyone that’s raising kids, especially four kids by myself, I’m doing the best that I can and my babies are good babies,” she added. “I just urge everyone to like, not be judgmental and to have grace on single moms trying to figure it all out with like, you know, a preteen.”
Kim on Co-Parenting with Kanye West
Kim also opened up about co-parenting with her ex-husband Kanye West, who now goes by Ye. The two share four children: North, 12, Saint, 9, Chicago, 7, and Psalm, 6.

“It’s not easy. But, I mean, I raise the kids, you know, full-time,” Kardashian shared. “They live with me. I welcome a great, healthy relationship with my kids and their dad, and I think he knows that.”
“I push for it all the time, but I also protect them when it’s time for that. It goes in waves and phases, and it’s a lot of work.”
When asked when Ye last saw the kids, Kim replied, “It’s probably been a couple months since we’ve heard from him.”
Kim and Kanye were married from 2014 to 2021 and finalized their divorce in 2022.
