Mariah the Scientist, Teyana Taylor & Ciara Lead Fresh R&B Drops

New Music Friday belongs to the R&B ladies we love.

First up is Mariah The Scientist, who unveiled her highly anticipated album, “Hearts Sold Separately.” The ten-track project includes her previously released hit, “Burning Blue,” and showcases just one guest appearance from Kali Uchis. A short listen at only 35 minutes, this smooth project highlights Mariah’s effortless vocals.

Next is Teyana Taylor, who introduced her album, “Escape Room.” The project marks another turning point in Teyana’s career, her first full-length release since departing from G.O.O.D. Music in 2020, following the messy rollout for “The Album.” While she has given her fans small glimpses via short EPs, “Junie Jams” and “The Cool Mom,” “Escape Room” showcases a unique artistic vision. Equipped with a stunning visual, the album is packed with star power, featuring narration from Black Hollywood royalty Taraji P. Henson, Issa Rae, Tasha Smith, Kerry Washington, Regina King, Niecy Nash, La La Anthony, and Jodie Turner-Smith. Musical guests include Lucky Daye, Jill Scott, Tyla, and more.

Ciara also introduced her day ones to “CiCi,” a collection of 14 brand-new tracks by the singer-turned-football wife. The album includes previously released singles, “How We Roll” with Chris Brown and “Run It Up” featuring BossMan Dlow. Ciara merges R&B and hip-hop, bringing along other heavyweights such as Busta Rhymes, Latto, Lil Baby, Tyga, Jazze Pha, and New Orleans bounce legend Big Freedia. “CiCi” proves that while Ciara may be living the housewife life, she remains deeply attached to her Atlanta musical roots, which fans fell in love with two decades ago.
