MICHAEL STRAHAN OPENS UP ABOUT DAUGHTER ISABELLA’S CANCER BATTLE, ANNOUNCES ABC SPECIAL
Michael Strahan is opening up about his daughter Isabellaâs courageous battle with medulloblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer.
Diagnosed in late 2023, Isabella faced intense treatments, including surgery and chemotherapy, but never lost her fighting spirit.
In an exclusive interview with People Magazine, Michael recalled how difficult it was to hear his daughter express her will to live.
âShe wasnât eating much,â Strahan told the outlet. âShe was thin and tired and bald and all the things you hate to see your kid go through. Her spirit was there. One of the things she said, probably the hardest thing I had to hear was, âDad Iâll do whatever. I want to live.ââ
He added, âI knew she wouldnât quit. She was going to fight â and she did.â
Isabella fought and won, announcing that she was cancer free about six months ago.
The University of Southern California student, who vlogged her cancer journey on social media, shared a âGoodbye Hospital,â video for all to share in her joy.
At the time, Strahan took to social media to praise his daughter, writing, â@isabellastrahan you are a SUPERWOMAN! Ringing that bell, finishing chemo and on your way!â he wrote on Instagram. âYou continue to fight with a smile on your face, strength, and determination. I am one proud Dad! Love you, Bella.â
The exclusive People Magazine feature debuted ahead of an upcoming ABC special: Life Interrupted: Isabella Strahanâs Fight Against Cancer, which will air on February 5 at 10 p.m. and the next day, Feb. 6 on Disney+ and Hulu.
The special will offer a deeper look into Isabellaâs journey and her mission to encourage others facing similar challenges.
âObviously you canât predict what can happen, and that is a little scary,â she told People. âBut I donât think you can solely live in fear. I think I should live every day. Take every opportunity. I see the impact that can come from sharing my experience. My diagnosis, itâs a part of me, but it doesnât define me. I want to be a voice.â
