NIPSEY HUSSLE’S EX, TANISHA FOSTER, GRANTED JOINT CUSTODY OF THEIR DAUGHTER

Tanisha Foster, the ex-girlfriend of the late rapper Nipsey Hussle, has been granted joint physical and legal custody of their daughter, Emani Asghedom.
The decision comes after Tanisha worked out an agreement with Nipsey’s family, including his brother Sam Asghedom, sister Samantha Asghedom, and mother Angelique Smith.
The new arrangement, filed on March 5th, ensures that Emani will spend time between Tanisha’s home and her uncle Sam’s.
As part of the deal, Nipsey’s mother and sister, Angelique and Samantha, will step down from their roles as co-guardians.
Sam will now be the sole guardian of Emani, while Tanisha and Sam will share joint physical and legal custody. Emani will spend 60% of her time with her mother, Tanisha, and the remaining time with Sam.
The agreement also clarifies that Tanisha and Sam will have equal rights when making decisions that are in Emani’s best interests and “Tanisha reserves her parental rights with respect to Emani,” the deal read.
The court battle between Tanisha and Nipsey’s family has been ongoing for years. After Nipsey’s tragic passing on March 31, 2019, his family was appointed as guardians of Emani.
In 2022, Tanisha filed a petition to end the guardianship arrangement, accusing Nipsey’s family of not fulfilling their promises made after his death. She also claimed that Nipsey’s family used their wealth and influence to limit her involvement in Emani’s life, including restricting her visits and failing to provide the promised financial support.
Tanisha argued that while she could not financially support Emani on her own, she wanted to ensure her daughter maintained the same lifestyle and close relationship with Nipsey’s family that she had before his passing.
In documents obtained by The Blast, Tanisha’s lawyer explained, “Tanisha’s motivation for doing so was in recognition of her own financial limitations; her desire to maintain the standard of living and family contact the minor had experienced with the paternal family prior to her father’s death; and upon the verbal assurances that each of them would act in the best interests of Emani.”
