Trey Songz Settles Miami Sexual Assault Lawsuit
Trey Songz has reached a confidential settlement to resolve a lawsuit accusing him of sexual assault at a Miami nightclub on New Year’s Eve 2018.
The lawsuit, filed by Jauhara Jeffries, alleged that the R&B singer non-consensually penetrated her with his fingers while they were dancing at E11even Miami during the early hours of January 1, 2018.
Songz has consistently denied the allegations.
Jeffries’ lawsuit also included claims against E11even Miami. She argued that the nightclub negligently served alcohol to Songz despite his well-known history of substance use. The case was scheduled for trial in October 2025, but new court documents show that all parties involved—including Jeffries, Songz, and the club—have agreed to a settlement that resolves the litigation.
On September 9, Judge Antonio Arzola issued an order confirming the dismissal. “This court has been advised that the matter has been settled as to all parties and therefore, it is hereby ordered and adjudged that this case is dismissed,” he wrote. “The court reserves jurisdiction to enforce the settlement and to enter orders necessary to this enforcement.”
The details of the settlement remain private, which is common for agreements reached outside of court. Jeffries’ attorney, Ariel Mitchell, confirmed to Billboard on Wednesday, “I can only comment that the matter has been resolved.”
The lawsuit had been complicated by accusations from Songz’s legal team that Mitchell tried to bribe a witness to support Jeffries’ claims. Mitchell denied the allegations, and the court later determined there was no evidence to substantiate the bribery claims, describing the case as a “classic ‘she-said versus she-said’ scenario.”
However, Mitchell is now facing disciplinary action from the Florida Bar for allegedly misleading the media in 2022 about the status of that investigation.
This is not the first time Trey Songz has faced sexual misconduct claims. He previously settled a lawsuit involving an alleged incident at a Los Angeles house party in 2016. He is also set to go to trial in 2026 over a separate case from Las Vegas in 2021.
The confidential Miami settlement adds to a series of legal challenges the singer has faced over the years.
