Trump Says Gayle King’s Career Is Dead: “No Talent, No Ratings!”

Donald Trump is once again putting media personalities in his crosshairs—this time setting his sights on CBS anchor Gayle King.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the U.S. President said, “Gayle King’s career is over. She should have stayed with her belief in TRUMP. She never had the courage to do so. No talent, no ratings, no strength!!!”

The comment came after The New York Post published an article questioning King’s future at CBS as CBS Mornings continues to struggle in the ratings. The piece claimed the show’s performance had hit new lows, and suggested that CBS’s new ownership under Skydance Media may be looking to shake up the format and leadership—including possibly rethinking King’s role.

King, who was once one of the highest-paid on-air personalities in morning news, signed a contract extension in 2023 but reportedly took a pay cut and only received a short-term renewal. Her current deal runs through May 2026.

Trump’s post appears to link her fading presence on television to what he calls her failure to stand by him publicly, insinuating that she would have been more successful had she aligned with his political movement.

Gayle King has long been seen as a steady, trusted voice on morning TV. But in a media landscape that’s rapidly evolving—and now under more conservative ownership—her future may depend less on her past success and more on how well she fits the new CBS mold.
