Garcelle Beauvais is setting the record straight regarding her now-infamous “lesbian” comment to Kyle Richards on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. After last week’s episode, where Garcelle playfully suggested Kyle might be a lesbian, the remark sparked an unexpected reaction from Kyle. But Garcelle is adamant that there were no ill intentions behind her words.
In an interview with TMZ, Garcelle Beauvais shared her perspective on the situation, calling the reaction from her co-star “shady.” She explained that the remark was not meant to offend or hurt Kyle in any way. “I wasn’t saying it to be malicious. It was more about, we’re powerful women — we can be whatever we want to be,” Garcelle clarified. “It wasn’t a dig. It was just, almost to inspire her to do whatever she wants to do.”
Garcelle further emphasized that after the comment was made, both she and Kyle laughed it off, leaving Garcelle puzzled by Kyle’s more serious reaction. “We laughed about it afterward so for her to say that was pretty shady,” Garcelle continued.
When asked about the tense moment on RHOBH, Garcelle reaffirmed that she had no regrets about what she said. She framed the comment as a gesture of friendship, encouraging Kyle to live authentically and do whatever makes her happy. “I don’t take it back,” Garcelle confidently stated.
However, Kyle Richards response to the comment in the media told a different story. In a statement, Kyle suggested that Garcelle had ulterior motives when making the remark, implying that it was designed to provoke a reaction. “What was really going through my head was, ‘You’re being an a**hole right now,’” Kyle revealed. “I was thinking, ‘If you’re thinking you’re going to get a reaction from me or I’m going to be offended, I’m not.’”
Despite Kyle’s strong reaction, Garcelle seems confused by the situation, especially considering that they had shared a lighthearted moment afterward. Still, Garcelle is standing firm in her belief that her words were never meant to hurt, but rather to uplift and encourage.
