Paul Walker death: Brother Cody Walker reveals ‘survivor’s guilt’ as he nears age 40 in new interview

It’s been 11 years since Paul Walker‘s tragic death at the age of 40 in November 2013, after a car crash in Valencia, California, which sent shockwaves throughout the world.

Walker was in the passenger seat of a Porsche Carrera GT, driven by a racing team partner, that crashed into a light pole and two trees and burst into flames.

Now his brother Cody Walker, 36, who has helped carry on Paul’s legacy in recent years, has spoken about his brother’s untimely passing and admitted he has a form of survivor’s “guilt” as he nears closer to Paul’s age at the time of his death.

“Every single year I get closer to 40, it just bums me out,” Cody told E! News.

“And I feel like every year beyond 40 is going to be like, ‘He should have had this. Here’s another year Paul should have had.'”

Talking about the ”guilt” he feels after his brother died “too young”, he added: “Why do some people get taken from us, and others stick around that you know shouldn’t?”

In 2019, on what would have been Paul’s birthday, Cody shared a throwback photo of the pair together and a touching tribute to his late sibling.

“I love you and miss you everyday,” Cody wrote in his post.

“You left your mark on the world and we only want to make you proud. Your legacy lives on brother. Happy birthday Pdub. ❤️”

Paul was one of Hollywood’s biggest stars, catapulted to international fame thanks to his role as Brian O’Conner in the Fast and the Furious franchise.

However, the actor and father-of-one was taken too soon when he died at the age of 40.

Roger Rodas was driving the Porsche the actor was in, and also died in the accident.

Despite the tragic loss, his legacy carries on not only through his films but also through his model daughter Meadow, 26, who recently made her first cameo in the Fast X films.

The Paul Walker Foundation is also run by Meadow, who encourages people to ‘do good’ and follow in her father’s footsteps.
