NFL star Travis Kelce has spilled the beans about his proposal to Taylor Swift – which almost broke the internet when the pair announced their engagement.

Kelce, 35, who plays for the Kansas City Chiefs, revealed emotions were running so high that when he popped the question, he cried.

Speaking to Erin Andrews in an interview for NFL on FOX, which was shared on X, Kelce said “there were a few tears here and there”.

“The palms were definitely sweating,” he admitted with a laugh.

“I’m an emotional guy, so there were a few tears here and there.”

He sweetly added: “But it’s been an exciting ride up to this day, and I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with her.”

On August 27, the smitten couple announced their engagement to the world, with the post getting more than 37 million likes.

“Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married 🧨,” Swift captioned the joint post, showing Kelce down on one knee amid an elaborate floral garden display.

Following the news, which made international headlines, the likes of Alyson Hannigan, Addison Rae, Ricki Lake, Wynonna Judd and Jennifer Love Hewitt also publicly shared their support for Swift by liking the post.

The pair are believed to have first started dating back in 2023. 

It comes after Kylie Kelce, Travis’ sister-in-law, revealed why she hasn’t publicly congratulated the couple on their engagement.

Speaking on her Not Gonna Lie podcast, she said it comes from a place of protection.
